Ameresco’s Work with California Solar Farm Earns Top Project of the Year Award

FRAMINGHAM – Ameresco, Inc., is a Framingham-based cleantech integrator specializing in energy efficiency and renewable energy, today announced that its solar installation at the Foothill Landfill in San Joaquin County, California, has received a Top Project of the Year Award in the Environment + Energy Leader Awards program.

Organized annually, the program’s expert judges identified this solar installation as a leading example of how to best repurpose underutilized land for maximum energy savings.

Over the past seven years, Ameresco partnered with the officials of San Joaquin County to develop and maintain two standalone projects at the Foothill Landfill. In 2014, the company developed a landfill gas-to-energy (LFGTE) facility to convert the County’s waste into renewable energy. Following its success, Ameresco oversaw the installation of over 13,000 solar panels on the landfill’s underdeveloped land in 2020 to further support the County’s long-term sustainability goals.

Roofing Tips That Can Save You A Hassle

The roof over your head is probably one of the most important investments you will make in your lifetime. Choosing the right company, the right materials, and the right colors isn't a decision that should be taken lightly. The paragraphs below will help guide you in the right direction. Read each tip carefully and consider the impact it will have on the rest of your life.

Remember that the area on the ground, just beneath your roof, is going to take a bit of a beating as your roof is replaced. If you have flowers or other shrubbery in that area, it might get damaged. There may be nothing your roofer can do to prevent it from happening, so try to avoid assigning blame.

Ask for copies of the roofing company's liability coverage before letting them work on your roof. If they are an experienced and professional company, then they should have these papers with them when they meet with you. Any company that doesn't carry or outright refuses to provide copies of their insurance and papers detailing worker's compensation should be avoided.

You should have certain expectations of your roofer. For example, any shingles that fall down to the ground should be picked up and hauled off your property. In addition, the roofer should pick up the majority of the nails that fall down as well, although it is likely that a few may be missed. In general, your yard should be clean and picked up after the work is completed.

When looking into different types of roofing material, you must take into account various factors. For example, the price range you are placing your budget in will ultimately decide what you are able to afford. A slate roof will be very expensive, however, it will last longer than your lifetime.

Ask the roofing contractors you are considering what materials they use most frequently. If you want a tile roof, but they have never laid one before, then they aren't the best choice for your project. Make sure to ask them this question before you tell them what material you plan to use to avoid duplicity.

Be sure a potential roofer is properly licensed. If you don't know what's required of the area, don't just trust the roofer's word. Check your local building department and call them to find out what is necessary.

If you are working on your own roof, you must always remember that safety comes first. Never try and climb your roof if it is raining or the weather is bad. For that matter, you should avoid getting on the roof if it is still wet after it has rained.

Climbing on top of a roof can be extremely dangerous. After all, most roofs have an awkward design that make it difficult for a person to maneuver. Because of this, you should ensure you take precautions. Shoes with rubber soles need to be worn so that you don't slip. You should also try to strap on a harness if you have one. Finally, you should always enlist the help of a loved one.

Never hire a roofing contractor who expects a deposit up front. A good contractor has financial stability, so they won't ask you for money to cover their supplies until the supplies have been delivered to your home. Also expect a great contract which details all expenditures on your part and that of the contractor.

When inspecting your roof for leaks, do not neglect to check the valleys. A roof's valley is an area where two roofs intersect together. Due to gravity, water naturally settles onto these places, causing here the water to slosh back and forth. This results in added pressure onto the valley, resulting in leaks.

When it comes to roofing, you've got to wait until Mother Nature gives you the go ahead before taking on a project yourself. Avoid putting yourself in any dangerous situations by waiting for a clear and dry day before undergoing any sort of roofing project. Doing so will ensure your safety.

When seeking a reliable roofing contractor, always make sure to solicit recommendations from people you trust who may have hired such professionals in the past. By doing so, you can rest assured that you are engaging the services of a company able to provide you with the type of service you deserve.
